It is a known fact that Bollywood got a huge market that South film industry and they can get back the investments even for big budget movies because of the huge market worldwide. There is a talk that the producers who do big budget movies in the south will become bankrupt within no time and they were not daring to step into bigger things a decade ago.
Now the situation has been reversed and Bollywood big budget movies started to bite the dust and South Indian biggies started creating waves all over India nowadays and becoming blockbusters collecting record collections. After Bahubali, apart from Telugu, the Tamil and Malayalam film industry started producing big budget movies.
"Bahubali-The Conclusion" was produced with 300+ crores budget and went on to become a huge money spinner for the producers collecting a mammoth gross of Rs 1800+ Cr. Now, Shankar 2.0 with 550 crores budget; Malayalam film industry also thought about producing a movie with over Rs 1000 crores budget and one more biggie is coming up in Tamil too. Reports say Tamil star hero Vikram is going to do a movie called "Mahaveer Karna" with a budget expected to be 300+ crores. This was initially spread as a rumor.
But after a while, there had been no talk or updates about the movie so far. So everyone thought that the movie has been shelved. But recently the first look poster has been creating ripples and the reporters are also implying that shooting also has started.
Going by the trend it seems there will many more big budget movies those going to be started in the Southern film industry.
