News that Dil Raju has bagged the rights for Telugu remake of ’96 is known.The producer apparently watched the special screening of the show and thought that the remake of it in Telugu would really do well at the box office.

There was also news that both Samantha and Nani have agreed to do it was doing rounds in the industry. But the latest news is that remake may just not happen. Source has informed that Nani has rejected the story later and other actors who were approached to play the lead in this remake project have also said that they are not interested in doing the film.

The film is different from the usual Telugu film we watch and is more of a heartbreaking one. Probably, we cannot call it a commercial film here. That is why actors like Nani, Sharwanad, Naga Shaurya and others have rejected being part of it. It was said that director Harish Shankar is directing the remake. But when approached, the director has informed that the remake is not happening and even if it happens, he won’t be directing it.
