According to our sources, the actor's new film Maharshi, which is directed by Vamshi Paidipally, is also a father-son story wherein Mahesh will be seen as Rishi and his father as Maharshi. Mahesh was introduced as Rishi and audience were given a glimpse of his journey. That rugged look and sharp beard have suited well on Mahesh.

It is said that Maharshi is also on the lines of this father and son sentiment. Speculations are rife that the film is based on the story lines of Swadesh, the Bollywood film. Maharshi has got Pooja Hegde as female lead and Allari Naresh in a key role and the film movie is a joint production of Dil Raju, PVP and Ashwini Dutt.
