The year that has gone by saw a good share of hits in the Tollywood circuit and most importantly, the audience has experienced a new genre of movies. Notable among them is the cult blockbuster ‘Arjun Reddy’ featuring hot stud Vijay Deverakonda and the gripping thriller ‘Ghazi Attack’ featuring the towering hunk Daggubati Rana.
While we must feel proud that the Telugu industry is opening up to such offbeat genres there is a fact attached to it. Both these masterpieces find their roots in Hollywood movies. Apparently, ‘Ghazi Attack’ was lifted from the German movie ‘Das Boot’ and though the original was four hours fifty-one minutes duration, our version was crisp.
As for ‘Arjun Reddy’ a major part of it was taken from the movie ‘Flight’ featuring the extraordinary performer Denzel Washington. There is nothing crooked about this but then if we are able to see movies with original content in Telugu that would give a totally different level of excitement and pride. Let us wish that happens soon.
