There is a famous phrase addressing the bridegrooms with a strong pun, it is called ‘Ek Din Ka Sultan’ meaning ‘Emperor for a day’ because once a man gets married he feels like a king only on that day and the rest of the day he just has to become his wife’s slave. Akin to that, Tollywood has also used this phrase to call a few filmmakers ‘Ek Film Ka Sultans’.
Lately, a new wave of filmmakers has arrived and they created a sensation. Notable among them are Sudheer Varma, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Sankalp Reddy, Tharun Bhascker Daasyam and others. They came with super hits on their debut. They came with shocking movies and it is obvious to expect them to come up with something bigger and very soon.
However, their next venture is not materializing at the pace we are looking at. Secondly, the public memory is short because of overflowing rush of information. An earlier cinema was the only medium they were prepared to wait and watch it in theatres but today back to back movies are coming and they are doing maximum promotions and publicity.
So, these talented filmmakers should not take long gaps. They need to churn out some really good scripts and that too within a short span. If they manage to do that two more times they are kept in the big league and once someone gets there, the journey becomes smooth without much pressure to perform. Hope the Sultans realize this.
