We are coming to the end of 2017 and it must be said that the last quarter has not been that great when it comes to the revenue of the Tollywood industry. Normally when that happens the cine folks take things on a positive side and are always looking forward to the New Year because they know things will change.
However, it appears that 2018 is going to be even gloomier than now. The reason being, a massive shutdown is being planned from March 1, 2018 and this is a decision coming from the Producers Council and Film Chamber of Commerce in protest against the monopolistic behavior of the Digital Service Providers. It is heard that these folks are not adhering to the requirements of the cine folks.
As a result, the shutdown is going to involve even the theatres and this would mean the big movies like Bharat Anu Nenu, Naa Peru Surya, 2.0, Rangasthalam and others which are slated for the summer release are going to face a big blow. Now that there is considerable time let us wish the problem gets sorted through amicable negotiations.
