He is none other than Girish Karnad who was seen in movies like Dharmachakram, Rakshakudu, Premikudu and even Shankar Dada MBBS. Many know him as an actor but Girish is also a great writer in the state of Karnataka and some of his works have received many reputed accolades and acclaims.
In the wake of the recent assassination of the Bangalore based journalist Gauri Lankesh, the government of Karnataka has now ordered for police protection for Girish citing threat to his life from few right wing Hindu fundamentalists. Girish is 79 years old and he is also a Jnanpeeth award and Padma Bhushan holder. Here’s wishing him a safe life ahead.
