The latest and hottest topic raging currently is the issue between maestro Ilaiyaraaja and singer S P Balasubrahmanyam and the legal notice issued by the former. While each one has their own perception, here is something which is closer to the truth and who is right.
In 2015, Ilaiyaraaja won a case at Madras High Court and this has to do with him gaining royalty whenever or wherever his songs are being played. At the same time, he was also clear that he would take a call on the royalty aspect based on when and where the song is being played. If it is a charity event, the maestro never took a penny and his royalty was given away as charity.
There have been instances where SPB took his remuneration though it is a charity based event. It is also not sure as to why a legal notice sent in private was revealed to the media. As much as the singers are the forefront of songs, it is the music and the composition which is the life and soul. Without this, there is no song.
