ISM is an upcoming action flick starring Kalyan Ram and Aditi Arya in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Anup Rubens and directed by hard hitting filmmaker Puri Jagannadh. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:
The fun album begins with Kanulu Naavaina which is a breezy number having all the contemporary touches as well. Jubin Nautiyal does a good job for this song and supported well by Mohana Bhogaraju. Bhaskarabhatla’s lyrics are stylish and at the same time poetic to hear. The harmonica touches and bass work is quite commendable.
Yey Yey Yey Ra is a Spanish styled number with fun guitar touches sung by Puri Jagannadh himself along with Dhanunjay. Roll Rida’s Rap adds much funkiness to this number and the typical realistic truths of life are explained well in the lyrics by Bhasakrabhatla. The so called Puri Jagannadh’s punch is evident throughout the song.
A breezy number Ela Ela Ela arrives next sung by the extremely talented singer Shaktisree Gopalan. The deeply philosophical lyrics by Bhaskarabhatla add a great layer to the composition. The swift guitar touches, and the laid back nature of the song is quite enjoyable. There is a magical folk touch for this essentially melodious number. The faint shades of Carnatic Raaga Malayamarutham are neatly heard in the tune as well.
The album gets an inevitable mass touch with Podade Poda Poda sung by Spurthy,Teju Priya and Ramki in full vigor. The song is high on energy levels with sultry vocals ably supported by the mass elements throughout. Despite less changeovers, the song manages to keep the energy levels going. However, there is less scope for novelty in the lyrics penned by Bhaskarabhatla.
ISM is a hard hitting number which speaks about the power of journalism and harsh realities of life. Puri himself penned the lyrics and rendered this composition with his own style and persona. The song progresses in a storytelling fashion and gives a deep impact on the listener.
Verdict:
ISM is a typical Puri Jagannadh mark album with its own share of melodies and mass numbers.
