The peppy album begins in the typical Thaman style with a racy number Dirty Picture sung by the talented Usha Uthup and ably supported by Simha. The live drumming is neatly styled with electric guitars and keeps up the fun moments. The interludes are high in energy levels and usage of retro loops is neatly done.
Hot Shot Hero is a Hip-Hop track with trendy lyrics and stylish vocals by Simbu and Vicey Mc. The steady rhythm and trancelike ambience is another huge asset for this number. The songs instantly gets into the groove and has stylish appeal.
The much awaited song Thikka sung by Tamil star Dhanush arrives in vigor and the song has a tinge of folk as well as trendy Pop sounding. The groovy guitars do the job perfectly with brilliant riffs and usage of peppy electric guitar also does the job perfectly.
The finale Vellipomake arrives in style from the composer Thaman himself giving his funky vocals. The typical chord progression and digitized riffs create a breezy atmosphere for the modern sounding.
Verdict:
Thikka is an quintessentially stylish album from Thaman. The songs are rhythmically good and find its way to modern listeners.
