Megastar Chiranjeevi has officially announced his comeback and surprised the world with his makeover. However, his recent performance in the recent CineMAA awards ceremony was rather dubbed a promotional stint.
Star performances in Film award events is quite a routine but CineMAA awards event was packaged and promoted as a promotional platform for Chiranjeevi’s 150th film. Of course, MAA TV is like a family to Chiru but unlike fans, a section of the viewer community felt that the hype and promotion rather went overboard. However, there is an interesting (or rather expected) inside story behind the entire episode.
According to the rumor mills, Chiru was offered Rs1.5 Cr for this performance (even Star India CEO confirmed on the stage that they approached Chiru for the performance but didn’t mention about remuneration though). However inside reports reveal that there is a big deal behind this performance linked to his forthcoming release (150th film tentatively titled Katthilantodu). The satellite rights of Katthilantodu have already been negotiated for MAA TV, as per sources.
Well there is a fat chance that Chiru does a performance like this for no benefit (at least for his film). Time will reveal more facts!
