Going into the details, young director Nag Ashwin who has gifted us a heart touching film like Yevade Subramanyam is preparing a biopic script on the late Savitri titled Mahanati. Given Savitri’s following in both Telugu & Tamil speaking states, this film is going to be a bilingual (Telugu-Tamil).
Well Nag Ashwin has finished scripting and is currently busy scouting for the apt cast. The young director revealed that she is the only actress who has earned the title Mahanati with her exemplary talent and her story needs to be told. He spent about six months researching on Savitri going through books written on her, meeting people who knew her.
This Mahanati biopic will be the first of its kind movie in Tollywood made on an actress’ life and this is indeed a gutsy step from a young director like Nag Ashwin.
