Bollywood director Kabhir Khan is quite an acclaimed and undisputed director. His latest blockbuster Bhajrangi Bhaijaan has been accoladed all over including Pakistan but the renowned filmmaker faced a serious embarrassment in the same land.
Going into the details, the director was on his way to board a flight to Lahore in the Karachi airport (to attend a conference) while he was mobbed by few protestors who shouted anti-India slogans questioning as to why he did not make films upon the RAW (India’s Intelligence Agency) activities in Pakistan. Surprisingly, one of the protesters even waved a shoe at the filmmaker (who chose to leave unresponded).
With Bhajrangi Bhaijaan, Phantom & Ek Tha Tiger to his credit, Kabhir Khan is popular for his films on sensitive subjects like India-Pak ties, spy agencies – secret operations etc. This open criticism should have certainly left the filmmaker with a scar.
