It is common to hear about stories written in books and novels becoming movies. But usually the preference is given for stories which are more contemporary. However, here is one film which has been based on a story written sixty years ago. We are talking about the film Anushtanam.
This has the triple Guinness record holder Dr Ghazal Srinivas as the hero while the talented Madhavilatha is the leading lady. The film is based on a story titled 'Teerpu' which was written by the very famous Gudipati Venkatachalam six decades ago.
Few years back, a film by name Grahanam came and this was based on the story 'Doshagunam' which was penned by the same writer. The film had Tanikella Bharani in the lead and it was directed by Indraganti Mohanakrishna. Anushtanam is directed by Krishnavasa and it comes with an interesting caption ‘Oka Janta Atmayaanam’.
