Out of many films which came in Tollywood since the 1950s, there were some special locations which the directors showed additional interest in filming certain sequences. While it was Vizag during 70s with Balachander’s Maro Charitra, the favourite location spot shifted to hill station Ooty with Mani Ratnam’s Geethanjali. Later, with the increasing budget and market expansions, many Tollywood directors aimed at foreign locations as well for songs and special sequences.
But now, a latest trend of having Rajasthan as the hot destination for film shootings has begun. There was a trend of shooting special songs in Rajasthan desert during 90s decade but it faded away in between. Ravi Teja’s Kick 2 was extensively shot there in the midst of sultry deserts and amazing landscape. Though the film didn’t fare good at the Box Office, the location choice was greatly appreciated.
Interestingly, Puri Jagannadh who always prefers either Vizag or Bangkok as a default shooting spot also chose Jodhpur for his latest film Loafer. The ethnic location gave a new meaning for the film. Now, Mega Hero Sai Dharam Tej’s next film Supreme is currently filmed in Jaisalmer, Jaipur. The film’s hero Dharam Tej and cute looking Raashi Khanna posted some selfies of themselves in Social Media which featured them in sweet expressions!
Looks like the yesteryear Rajasthan trend is back with a bang for the coming year 2016!
