If there is one term which has been setting the Social Media and TV channels ablaze off late, it is “Intolerance”. It all began when Bollywoood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan said that intolerance has been growing a lot in the country, the debate skyrocketed. However, it was Aamir Khan’s comments in a recent award show interview saying that his wife is scared of living in India which made things even more complicated.
While die hard Aamir Khan fans and certain people supported his stand, many BJP political leaders along with common people were against this claim. Some people even started showing their protest by uninstalling Snapdeal app which is endorsed by the actor. But, one film personality has a totally different opinion on this event- he is none other than Mozart of Madras A.R.Rahman.
Rahman called the debate and statements about intolerance in the country “poetic” and quite non violent. He said that such debate is a welcome change in the country but it shouldn’t happen with disturbing manner. Rahman continued saying that India should set a new example of non violence because it is where Mahatma Gandhi redefined this principle with great ease.
Interestingly, when Rahman was asked about the same topic he said that he supports Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s suggestion of making music compulsory in schools to reduce violent ideas. But when he was prodded about taking a stand of Aamir Khan’s statements, the reticent composer said, “Don’t pull me into trouble!”.
