Lokanayakudu Kamal Hassan came with an experimental film this year named Utthama Villain which was directed by Kannada actor Ramesh Arvind. This film had some difficulties during the release with some controversies but finally opened up in the midst of high expectations.
Utthama Villain was raved for its sound design, impressive soundtrack and the bonding shown between Kamal’s character and veteran filmmaker K.Balachander. However , it didn’t fetch the expected commercial result in the Box Office front. However, the makers of Utthama Villain are greatly delighted now because the film won many international awards!
In the Los Angeles film festival, it bagged best film, best actor (Kamal Hassan), best music (Ghibran) and best sound design! In Russian Film Festival, it earned the ward in best music category.
