Gunasekhar is one filmmaker who always looked forward to give his audience something. If we give a glance at his filmography, he pioneered several things in Telugu cinema.
Be it mythological film with kids Ramayanam, DTS mixing with Choodalani Vundi, full-fledged DI with Sainikudu and a commercial film like Okkadu with the trendsetting Charminar set, he always thrived to explore the unexplored and tell unique stories. As a part of it, he now made India’s first historical stereoscopic 3D film Rudramadevi which is indeed his dream and life. Gunasekhar is the director cum producer for the film and he has in fact put his entire life into this film. The film has hit the screens this 9th Oct and is fortunately doing well.
But trade experts say the film need some more time to recover its investment (Estimated to be over Rs 80 crores) but unfortunately, we have yet another big ticket commercial film Bruce Lee The Fighter coming to occupy this Oct 16. On this note, Gunasekhar has made an open request to the industry seeking its support. “In today’s Telugu cinema where we don’t get to see new genres, films like Rudramadevi seldom come and if such films and filmmakers should survive, the support of the entire industry is a must. And after over 25yrs, a historical film has come and when it is performing well, it is now up to the industry to support it”, said Gunasekhar.
Already trails are rife in the film chamber to postpone the release of Bruce Lee to the third week of Dasara. So, we need to see how lucky can Gunasekhar and Rudramadevi can get!
