Though there is no element of hatred or rivalry there is always a strong element of competition that runs between our Tollywood and the neighbouring Kollywood. For a very long time, Tollywood has stood first in terms of the number of movies it has made and the economy it has generated.
On the other hand, Kollywood has always stood first in terms of the content driven films it made and the amazing performers it generated. But now, it appears that Tollywood is all set to conquer Kollywood. The reason for that is the latest ruling which has come from the Madras High Court much to the delight of the distributors.
Apparently, there is a rule in Tamil Nadu that films which have Tamil titles will get 30% tax exemption and this was being used extensively by the Tamil makers. However, that exemption was not there for dubbed flicks even if they had Tamil titles. But the latest ruling from the court has declared even the dubbed movies also get the tax exemption. This has pumped up many Tollywood makers and they are eager to release more of their movies into Tamil as well.
