Malayalam superstar Mammootty is under legal trouble for acting and endorsing a Soap brand in Television. This news became quite sensational in Malayalam cine circuit and it was the first time in Kerala where a brand ambassador was served legal notices in a case lodged by a consumer.
Going into the details, Mammootty was taken as a brand ambassador for a local Soap brand and he endorsed that the soap will make one brighter than present in the commercial. Based on that, a consumer named K. Chathu used the soap and didn’t get the result of what they are showing in Soap Commercials.
He took this Soap commercial as witness and filed a PIL against the actor Mammootty and the promoters of concerned Soap Company in a local court. After examining the PIL, court served notices to the actor Mammootty and concerned promoters and ordered them to show their in court on 22nd of September.
Similar situation has occurred to Amitabh Bachchan also in the Maggi ban case. These days actors or public figures should act smartly in signing for commercials or endorsing products.
