It was considered to be a major act of heroism but cut to the present, smoking is no more a heroic act. Well, heroes must be careful about smoking in a movie because it is leading to various forms of protests from different groups. At one time, the legends ANR, Dev Anand rocked with their smoking style.
An yesteryear chartbuster also goes ‘Mein zindagi ka saath nibhaatha chala gaya, har fikr ko dhuen me udaatha chala gaya’ implying how the hero puffed away all tensions in life with his cigarette. But now, cases are being filed on heroes for such gestures or acts. This is going to be a bitter pill for the filmmakers then.
