Some of you may have this perception that not many who belong to the entertainment industry have religious or spiritual sentiments. This may be true to an extent but not in its entirety. There are those members who are extremely devotional and prove to be an inspiration to others as well.
One classic example for that is the Mozart of Madras A R Rahman. After getting converted to Islam, A R Rahman has been quite devout in his religious practices. The latest in that has been the just concluded Roza (fasting) on the eve of Ramzan. Rahman has been in a period of self denial for one full month.
While he is hoping to repeat the act as long as he can there is also another observation. Almost all the movies he composes tunes for, there is that one song which revolves around Allah and that too in a rather Sufi style. Rahman’s tunes and philosophy of music has transcended all barriers of religion which is indeed a fact of delight.
