Award Functions are like a part and parcel for tinsel town which are held annually in the good intention to honor the best performances and work related to Cinema every year. The main intention of conducting these awards is to inculcate a cordial atmosphere between film personalities and a platform where they can take a detour and celebrate the achievements. While there are lot of respect associated with award functions earlier, it seems to take a downfall for many reasons. Many critics and film goers feel that award functions these days are catering to the likings of the star people rather than genuine talent.
Why did this sort of impression occur in the first place? It is obvious because of the way award functions are being conducted these days. Take the example of any prestigiousAwards which is conducted with great vigor every year. In the award function some really worthwhile films were ignored. In fact, the national award winning film Naa Bangaru Thalli wasn't even nominated for any category at all. Coming to the best actress female category, Samantha's performance in Manam was the hot favourite for critics as well as the common audience as she had more scope in two different roles. However, the award was given to Shruti Hassan for Race Gurram which was significantly easier role to perform.
Incidents like this would not only breach the trust and respect for award functions but also make people wish for a properly managed function where real tribute in Cinema can happen.
