Prakash Raj- this name ruled the whole south film industry for nearly two decades and he created a bench mark for acting with his exceptional talent and charm. He has etched his name in the books of Indian cinema and hearts of cinephiles.
Right from legendary late Balachander to Puri Jagannadh, he is the first and favorite pick. Be it a caring father or menacing villain, he is the first choice. And “Bommarillu Prakash Raj” is an iconic father and rather a household character in both the Telugu states. He was the most sought after actor in India but things have eventually changed. Of late, he is facing tough competition from artists like Rajendra Prasad, Rao Ramesh, Jagapathi Babu, Sampath Raj and unfortunately due to his controversial past (with bans, spats with directors and allegations of unpunctual nature) also, makers are preferring alternatives.
Recently, Rajendra Prasad was chosen for the father character of Jr NTR in his upcoming film (Nannaki Prematho...) with Sukumar though Prakash Raj was the first choice due to reasons best known to them. Of course, there can be no replacement for an exemplary actor like Prakash Raj but we are only afraid if feasible alternatives might take over until he comes up with some surprise again!
