Creativity is the name of the game when it comes to the entertainment industry but then there is a certain method to monetize it. Right now, one very hot issue seems to be brewing up in the industry and this is between the lyricists, music directors on one side and producers, audio companies on the other.
Recently, maestro Ilaiyaraaja wrote a letter to the DGP that his works are being used by FM radio station without his approval. Same is now being initiated by other music directors and lyricists in Tollywood. They allege that many entities are exploiting their creativity without giving them the due share.
The lyricists have become a group and are coming up with their own terms and conditions. They are expecting the producers to sign this and forward to audio companies. Their ultimate focus is on protecting their creative copyrights and it remains to be seen how the producers and audio companies are going to deal with this.
