There are many aspects that determine the business of cinema and in that, the budget for a movie is crucial. Whenever a film has been made with sensible budget, it works at the box office. But that is generally not possible in Tollywood thanks to the mind boggling remunerations of the actors.
In that, there is a huge disparity between the remunerations of heroes and heroines. Usually, Star Heroes are taking more than Rs 5 crores as minimum and compared to this, the starlets take home a very small percentage. As such, even heroines are also responsible for ticket collections at the theaters.
Based on the heroine also people come to the theatres but their remunerations are not growing proportionately with respect to that of heroes. Of course, there is a talk that during the time of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari both Chiranjeevi and Sridevi got Rs 1 crore each. This is because Sridevi was already a proven star in Bollywood and had a strong national identity.
After that, heroes’ remuneration has increased 10 times but that is not the case with heroines. Today, even the topmost heroine earns around Rs 1 crore. As it is, their shelf life is less so it is indeed a tough path for the beauties.
