When you make a medium budget or a big budget film, the chances are that you would have no hassles in getting the right number of theatres and sizeable publicity. But fact remains that Tollywood’s major film production happens in the small budget segment and they suffer the maximum in terms of release.
Mostly, they never get the required number of theatres and the film goes without making noise. So, there is a need for the small budget flicks to have an alternative way out. In that aspect, some of the cine experts are stating the movies should now associate with TV channels on conditions of exclusivity.
The idea of having a grand premiere in TV without attempting for a theatrical release is being encouraged. At the same time, some are also suggesting a rule applied in Tamil Nadu should come here wherein big budget films are allowed to release only during festivals. If small budget films are not given the required life then the day is not far when Tollywood will collapse without hopes of recovery.
