Dharmavarapu Subhramanyam was well known to the Television household with the comedy serial Anando Brahma that used to air in Doordarshan during the late 80s. Many comedians such as Brahmanandam and Sutthi Velu acted in it making it the most loved serial of that age. Jandhyala identified his talent and introduced him in Rajendra Prasad starrer Jayammu Nischayammu Ra. Right from then, Dharmavarapu became well known to every Telugu person for the laughter he generated with peculiar characters he did.
