The Indian Tennis circuit may not have seen much of glories but it has its share of stalwarts. The list began with the Amritraj Brothers who made their mark followed by the likes of Ramesh Krishnan and then Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi. Today, we have Somdev Varman and Saketh Myneni.
But among the women, the list is just one or two and only one girl has brought tons of laurels to India. She is our Hyderabad girl Sania Mirza. While she is good on the court, Sania seems to be smart enough off the court too. This is the feeling many got when they saw her tweet on her social networking profile.
Sania’s line went like this- ‘When I am not playing #Tennis, I love watching Bond movies’.
This is indeed a deliberate political statement, say many. As she was chosen to play a key role in Bond film, she said so all of a sudden. Even in her earlier interviews, she never expressed her fondness for Bond films. Thus, it's a timely statement from this Tennis Star now. Anyhow, let us wait to see if she emerges victorious as an actress as well.
Just to recall, yesteryears' Tennis sensation Vijay Amritraj appeared in 1983 James Bond film Octopussy beside Roger Moore. Now, it's Sania Mirza's turn.
