Rough is an upcoming entertainer starring Aadhi and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Mani Sharma. Here is an iQlik exclusive audio review of the album:
The album begins with a funky track Abbabbo Veedu with peculiar lyrics and contemporary sequencing. There are traces of Arabic flavor intermixed with catchy percussions which makes it an entertaining listen.
Nandu I Love You is an upbeat composition with the superimposition technique used at its best form. Electronic sequencing is done well in the interludes with the inevitable Mani Sharma melodic touch appearing as well.
It is time for the mass number Edukondala with strong rhythm section and the fun filled lyrics follow the composition with ease. The interludes are well a fusion between Hip-Hop, Rap and Desi touch. The track follows the yesteryear style of conversational lyrics which makes it an enjoyable hearing.
Rubbaru Banthi is a peppy number with thumping rhythm and unexpected usage of saxophone touches in between. The electronic guitar base adds more punch with the recurring style of percussions. The interludes retain the Mani Sharma stamp with good ease.
The pace increases tenfold with an interesting solo Oye Oye with a breezy flavor associated throughout. The bass work follows with tremendous ease in the midst of fusion between Rap Lyrics and Classical Aalap.
Ee Vennela Bommani is a paced up melody in which the string section takes the front seat. The electronic sequencing is done with great mastery and timely chord progressions do the rightful job. In short, it balances the album’s racy pace. The usage of solo violin and string section in the interludes is done well.
Verdict:
Rough is a fair album from Mani Sharma who attempts to bring a balance between melodies and fast paced numbers. However the album gets an overdose of pace and funkiest lyrics thereby taking the melodious numbers to a backseat.
