Now the actor is ready with a multistarrer Happy New Year which released on the eve of Diwali. On that occasion, here is an iQlik exclusive interview with the King Khan:
Hello Shah Rukh..
Hi..
Congratulations on the success of your latest film Happy New Year!
Thanks a lot!
After Chennai Express, what made you to act in a totally contrasting film like HNY?
This has been there since long time during Ra One days. When Farah told the storyline to me, I felt it was fun filled and felt it would do well because of the strong star cast as well. If I particularly like a story, I always come forward to produce it when a right production team isn’t available.
How significant and how hard was sporting a 8 pack now?
Well, the film especially, the fight sequence that was amazingly shot needed this look. I sported 6 pack for Om Shanti Om earlier. So, with committed, disciplined efforts and few months of diet restrictions, this was not difficult.

What is the best aspect of Farah according to you?
Farah is a very hard working person. Her ideas are commercial and she thinks about the producer’s gain always. The thought process of female directors in general is somewhat different for commercial films but Farah makes sure fun element isn’t missed. She is undoubtedly a dedicated director.
With the growing global business, you sure must be having a pressure of creating record break for every film of yours. How do you handle this situation?
Not really. There is always a new film which breaks an existing film records. I don’t believe in number games. I make an honest film with good story and my choice is always based on my interest on it at the moment.
Will you ever do a south multi starrer flick in coming days?
No such plans now. I haven’t seen much south films off late. But I am waiting for Shankar’s Ai.
How do you see the progress of talented actor Vivaan Shah who acted in HNY?
Vivaan is a very talented actor. He is not a regular hero material. He did a film called Saath Khoon Maaf earlier. Farah chose him for the film. I can see bright prospects for him in Bollywood.
What is your take on acting with your lucky mascot Deepika in HNY? You have already acted with her in Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express which were blockbusters.
I never involved in the casting of HNY. I wanted new actress for the film but Farah insisted Deepika to cast in the role. There are no hit formula sentiments for casting her in this. But yes, it is a pleasure to act along with Deepika always!
How do you feel about Hyderabad. You have been here many times. What is the best thing about the city?
Though my actual hometown is Delhi, I can call Hyderabad as my special hometown because my mother belongs to Hyderabad. Many of my relatives hail from Hyderabad. Unfortunately, I couldn’t spend much time in this glorious city but one day I hope to meet all my relatives and relish the delicious Hyderabadi biryani there!
Will you be doing small budget films?
I would be doing it quite soon. Some script discussion is going on with my creative team. I would announce about the same shortly.
What about your son Aryan? Can we expect his acting debut soon?
I don’t know about his interest in films. He is studying right now and once he finishes studies he will chose his career. I usually don’t insist my ideas on him regarding career. Let us see how it goes!
Okay…Thank you and we wish you the best in future endeavors!
Thank you very much!
