Kamal Hassan is one actor equipped with creativity. He can excel and produce more effect than what director asks for. In Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s directed film Sommokadidhi Sokokadidhi Kamal played dual role for the first time in his acting career. One of the roles he adorned in it is that of an absent minded doctor. Singeetham advised Kamal to watch somebody who can show the mannerisms live so that he can catch the role’s intricacies in an easier way. Kamal obliged him without a word.
Shooting began for the day and most of the scenes involving Kamal as the absent minded doctor were to be filmed then. Kamal could amazingly fit for such a peculiar role. Leaning his head over a side, looking irritable, and with a unique gait, Kamal could perform more than what the director asked for.
Once the shooting for the day was done, Singeetham started wondering whom Kamal amazingly imitated so that he could get the character’s mannerisms so perfectly. Just some moments later, he got the answer. In fact, the answer even made him laugh his wits out. The reason was because- Kamal imitated his dear director Singeetham himself for the role! Singeetham is known on and off the sets for being absent minded, always pre-occupied with thoughts, and a slightly irritable person!
The Kamal Hassan- Singeetham Srinivasa Rao combination has delivered some of the finest films for Indian Cinema such as the Pushpaka Vimanam, Vichitra Sodarulu, Michael Madana Kamaraju which had some fantastic comedy and brilliant timing of Kamal as an actor!
