The most revered Cinematographer Ashok who directed classics like Abhinandana earlier is no more. This talented gentleman worked for nearly 125 films as a cinematographer and sadly died in Chennai. The 73 year old has been undergoing treatment for illness for quite some time. He has actively worked with stars like Kamal Hassan, Chiranjeevi and Rajinikanth during his peak era of his career. He was given the national award few times for his phenomenal work as well.
Ashok has been awarded the national award for best cinematographer for Nenjethai Killadhe (Mouna Geetham in Telugu) starring Suhasini, Prathap Pothan in lead roles. This film is incidentally the debut film of veteran actress Suhasini Maniratnam too. In fact, he is the cinematographer for India's first 3D film- My Dear Kutti Chethan. He has even worked for South Indian sensational director Shankar's Jeans in the late 90s. Jeans is best remembered for the visually rich capturing of Seven Wonders Of The World (which was never done before by any Indian Cinematographer earlier.)
Even till date, in addition to the melodious music, Abhinandana and Neerajanam are best rememebered for the phenomenal camera work by Ashok and his effort in bringing the brilliance of Ooty through his camera.
iQlikmovies offers the deepest condolences for Ashok's family and prays for his soul to rest in peace.
