You may have seen directors, producers and even music directors becoming actors onscreen but lyricists are seldom seen. One lyricist that many revere and regard is Atreya and here is an interesting tit-bit about him. It was the film Bhama Kalapam which came in the 80s that had Atreya in it.
He had portrayed the role of himself in the film. Lyricists being seen in guest roles picked up later but they act as themselves in the film. When hero Tarun was a child artist, a film by name Teja came where Veturi Sundarramamurthy did a cameo as himself in the film.
Similarly Dr. C. Narayana Reddy did a guest role in another movie named Toorpu Padamara. The current generation lyricist Rama Jogayya Sastry did a cameo in King as lyricist Sastry teaming up with Brahmanandam in the film. Even Sirivennela Seetaramasastry did a role but not as himself. He was seen as a media person in the film Gaayam.
