But Samantha arrived as a contender with a series of successful films. As a result, Samantha became no.1 in Tollywood. She became an actress with immeasurable stardom. As Anushka drifted to female oriented subjects later, there was no competition for Samantha at all. Though Kajal and Tamannah were coming for competition in between, some flops gave them little hindrance in their success. With this, Samantha was monopolizing Tollywood as lead heroine. Just when she was an undisputable no.1 female lead, another competitor came forward. She is none other than Shruti Hassan.
Shruti Hassan could not get initial success with the flop debut Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu and Oh My Friend which followed next. She couldn’t get successful in Hindi either. Many people even termed as Iron Leg. But her fortune took a U turn with Gabbar Singh. With that success, she could get a series of hits in Telugu. With an out and out successful commercial film like Balupu in hand, Shruthi is zooming away with confidence and vigor. Shruti starrer Ramayya Vastavayya and Yevadu are also ready for release and Race Gurram with Allu Arjun is filming. If at all any heroine is there as competition for Samantha now- it is Shruthi Hassan alone.
Now, the race of Heroines has become all the more interesting. Samantha is demanding huge remuneration based on her popularity. In fact, Shruthi is more talented than Samantha because she sings and also composes music. More than everything else, she is identified as Kamal’s daughter. Moreover, almost all Tollywood heroes acted opposite Samantha by now. If they are in need of a fresh choice, it is none other than Shruti. These factors will surely help Shruti in becoming no.1.
It is needless to say that it will be the season of these two beauties for at least some time in Tollywood. If Shruti manages to make an impact with her confidence in her upcoming projects, Samantha’s no.1 position would be at stake. It is interesting to see that in Ramayya Vastavayya these two heroines shared the screen presence. It is the audience who should decide who among these two heroines would rule the Tollywood Silver Screen in times to come!
