Universal Hero Kamal Hassan, who always tries something out of the box on-screen, will be felicitated with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 15th Mumbai Film Festival. The actor has whined his 50-year filmy career with 190 films and has won 3 national awards and a Padma Shri Award to his credit.
Kamal Hassan is a paramount in Indian film history for pulling off his act in films such as Vasantha Kokila (1982); Nayakudu (1987), Pushpaka Vimanam (1987), Vichitra Sodharulu (1989), Bharatheeyudu (1996), Hey Ram (2000), Dasavathaaram (2008) and Vishwaroopam (2013).
“We are privileged to bestow the Lifetime Achievement Award to legendary actor Kamal Hassan and Oscar winner Costa-Gavras, a French filmmaker. Their movies have been loved and celebrated by millions of filmgoers worldwide.” said Shyam Benegal, chairman of Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI).
“Kamal is a prodigy in every aspect and a rhetoric writer, singer, director, lyricist and an actor par-brilliance. We are extremely happy to be conferring the Award to him,” added Benegal. The Mumbai Film Festival is currently in its 15th edition and this event will take place from the 17th – 24 October 2013.
