Priyanka Chopra, who already won over many hearts as a Bollywood Heroine is now getting introduced in Tollywood with Toofan opposite Mega Power Star Ram Charan. She recently shared the details of her film with media:
Hi Priyanka How are you?
Priyanka: Yeah I am good...
Finally, you are getting introduced as Heroine in Tollywood. How do you feel about it?
Priyanka: I am feeling very happy about it. I’ve been thinking of working in Telugu films since ages. But due to some reasons like becoming busy in Bollywood and so on, I couldn’t act in Telugu films till now. But now I am glad that I could act in a High Voltage Action film like Toofan.
In the original version of Toofan, your role was done by Jaya Bachchan. What sort of changes did your director Apoorva Lakhia did for you role in this version?
Priyanka: I would like to share a small info with you. I want to convey my heartfelt thanks to Jaya Bachchan on this account. In the original version of Zanjeer, Jaya Bachchan played the role of street woman named “Chaaku Choori Vaali”. But in this new version, my role Mala is completely new. She hails from New York and comes to India to attend a wedding. The first scene of mine in the film is to witness a murder and the goons chase me over. She meets ASP Vijay (Ram Charan) as a witness of that crime and to narrate the scene. Right from then, Mala’s character continues in India.
In this film you had to render your lines in Telugu. Did you feel difficulty in working over the lip movements for your dialogues?
Priyanka: Oh it was indeed very difficult for me. To add on, Mala’s character is very talkative and though I could manage Hindi dubbing easily, the dialogues in Telugu were quite lengthy. Thought it was very tough, I took it like a challenge. While learning the dialogues, Ram Charan helped me a lot. I must thank him for that.
Mega Power Star Ram Charan has a huge image and fan following here. How do you feel to begin your Tollywood innings with such star?
Priyanka: Ram Charan is a really good co-star. He is very good attitude and has lot of dedication. He is not only a good artist but a great dancer. I am sure he will score it big in Bollywood. His portrayal of ACP Vijay Khanna was wonderful. Ram Charan rendered his dialogues with good modulation and he is one of those actors with huge passion towards his work.
How did you find directorial style of Apoorva Lakhia?
Priyanka: Apoorva Lakhia is a fantastic director with perfectionist style. He has clarity in every aspect. The very step he took to remake Amitabh’s hit Zanjeer itself shows his courage. He did not copy the original frame by frame but just took the main storyline of the film and adapted it well to the present conditions. As a result, he could make a High Voltage action entertainer like this. He did not compromise in any area of film making. After the film is released, people will talk about his brilliant directional skills.
How are you enjoying the film’s audio?
Priyanka: I can say it is one of the good soundtracks in recent times. I personally liked Pinky song very much.
What is your final word on the movie?
Priyanka: Toofan is the remake of a fantastic story Zanjeer. Apoorva Lakhia’s direction, Ram Charan’s acting, dances, and of course my glamour add to the film. Most importantly Srihari, Tanikella Bharani and Prakash Raj excelled in their roles. Mahi Gill’s song will remain as a highlight to the film. I sincerely hope that Toofan- a blend of all these highlights will entertain everybody right from the day of its release- September 6th!
