Necessity is the mother of invention. Even the greatest of the greatest had to come down to their knees on many occasions – that’s the magic of necessity. Similar gimmicks do happen in the film industry. Even heroines who were once considered out of the league are being welcomed - isn’t this called necessity? All the heroines who were endorsed with the name tag “Iron Leg” are back in the league big time. Seems like the wheel of fortune is spinning in the right direction for Richa Gangopadhyay, Vedika, Lakshmi Rai, Praneetha and Deeksha Seth and are back on the sets ready to roll.
Superstitions do play a major role in the movie industry and they become even much tougher on the heroines. If the heroines have a failure people are scared to even think about their name. But now the trend is changing, the so called iron legs are being invited with offers. Isn’t this weird?
Praneetha who glittered in the movie ‘Bava’ also acted in the film ‘Em Pillo Em Pillado’. Both were duds at the box office and luck teased her even in Tamil and Kannada. When everybody thought the innings was over for Praneetha she grabbed a golden opportunity in Pawan kalyan’s forthcoming film ‘Attarintiki Dareedi’ where she will be playing the role of a second heroine. Not only this, she also grabbed a chance in upcoming Manchu’s multistarrerr movie. Similar was the case with Richa Gangopadhyay, she was never considered to be fortunate even though she acted with lead heroes. A great example is Mirchi, where Prabhas, Anushka and Koratala Shiva took away the whole credit. When everybody thought she didn’t have the future and had to settle down as a second heroine, she signed up Nag's ‘Bhai’ project where she will be the main lead and if the movie does well people will recognize her as a lead heroine going forward.
Lakshmi Rai who gave us a glimpse of her beauty in 'Kanchanamala Cable TV' could not sustain even though she had many other opportunities. She lacked the acting skills and ultimately ended up as an iron leg. When Lakshmi Rai was about to fade away, she was recalled by our producers. Currently she is playing a key role in Kodi Rama Krishna’s 'Rani Ranamma' and besides this she is also playing an item song in Ravi Teja’s 'Balupu'. Don’t know if this special item song will have a major impact on her career. On the same context more and more of these iron leg heroines are popping up and so is the case with Vedika, (Banam fame) and this name is currently in the buzz after a long time. She will be soon acting with Siddarth which will be directed by Vasanth Balan and the plans are that this movie will be made in both Telugu and Tamil. Finally Deksha Seth also grabbed a bumper chance and that too in Bollywood with Saif Ali Khan’s own production.
This is how all the iron legs are marching back and is the time to make it or break it. Will they score a hit now and get back into the game? Or will they eventually fade out with the curse of iron leg? Only the future will decide.
