The ‘Yama’ genre isn’t a new bean to our Telugu audience! Because stalwarts like NTR have already squeezed the pulp out of that genre. Having inspired from the former, Megastar Chiranjeevi not only dares to attempt the same genre but also delivers us a memorable film with his verve and panache taking it to the classic horizons. Today this endearing entertainer completes 25yrs!
But, why did Chiru attempt this? How was this cooked?
Well, this all started off as a friendly project as G. Narayana Rao, one of the producers of the film and a very good friend of Chiranjeevi right from their struggling days, approached Chiru with the idea of Satyanand, a revered writer. Having inspired from the previous ‘Yama’ films, this story was knitted but with a slightly different point of unfamiliar identical humans. With the stellar performances by Chiru (dual role), Vijaya Santhi, Radha, Rao Gopal Rao, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Sudhakar et al, fantabulous music by Raj-Koti, lyrics by Veturi and the able support of the crew and producers, director Ravi Raja Pinisetti carved this subject into a wholesome entertainer. This film remained a milestone to ‘Dynamic Moviemakers’ [the banner under which the film was made] and a rejuvenating film to supporting actors Sudhakar and Hari Prasad. Hit ditties like “Andam Indolam…adharam tamboolam”, “Ekku bandekku maava…” don’t leave these GenX music lovers tap a foot.
From comedy to commerciality, this film had every speck of entertainment which an average Telugu cine-goer would look for and obviously the film had cash registers ringing from the day one of its release. Even today, who would miss film on TV? No one absolutely!
iQlikmovies thanks the makers for gifting us such an ideal entertainer and we keep cherishing this film evermore!
