“Seethama Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu…Sirimalle chettemo viragapoosindi…” This symphonious ditty from the recent multi-starrer Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu that almost expresses the soul of the movie is presumed to be drifted out from some experienced big old pen of our Telugu cinema. But let us reassert you that this was written by a pretty young pen by name Anantha Sriram.
Today is his birthday and guess where he was on his birthday, definitely not in any other universe storming about a song, but watching BAADSHAH. So, when we rung him up on phone to wish him, in a short and sweet chat, this is what he got to share with us in the intermission gap…
Happy Birthday Anantha Sriram! So, where is the birthday boy celebrating now?
Dhanyavadaalu [Thank You]. I came to watch BAADSHAH with my family.
Hope you enjoy the movie. Well according to you, what is that you have achieved from your last birthday to now?
Achievement…well I think, writing four key songs in my recent Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, that too with no English word in it. Given the fate of our Telugu song today, I believe this is quite an achievement (Smiles)
Of course it is! Congratulations on that. Well, did you have any dreams coming true in this one year?
Yes. I always wanted to work with Maestro Ilayaraja. This has come true with Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu. Thanks to Gautam Menon for that. On top of it, it was a single card album. So a double bonanza indeed!
Frankly, you deserve it Mr. Sriram. So, finally what are you looking forward in this year…from this birthday to your next one?
[Without a pause] Nothing much! Every sensible song or word you write, finds its significance only when it touches someone’s heart, when it helps someone in one way or the other. People keep complimenting my work and I am happy about it. But, as a lyricist I can only feel contented when my song can bring at least a speck of change towards positivity, hope and joy through
my song. I am exactly looking forward to an opportunity to deliver such a song.
Even we are awaiting such songs and many more memorable songs from you. Good luck and once again Happy Birthday!
Dhanyavadaalu. Namasthe!
