Adarsa Kutumbam story at a glance
P.A.P Production House can be termed as a family for Jayalalitha as an actress because many of her hit films like Manushulu Mamathalu, Brahmachari, Adarsa Kutumbam, Bharya Biddalu, Nayakudu- Vinayakudu (Jayalalitha’s last film in Telugu) were produced by this prestigious production house. Adarsa Kutumbam is the third film of Jayalalitha in this banner. This film also marks the completion of 25 glorious acting years for Nata Samrat ANR. The film explains the fact that family bonding gets better by living separately instead of being under same roof and having conflicts.
Story Details:
The film deals with a farmer (Nagaiah) and his family comprising of his wife (Hemalatha) and four boys and a girl. The elder son (Gummadi) and his wife (Anjali) look after the house finances, agricultural work and taking good care of guests in an admirable fashion. The second son (Nagabhushanam) simply involves in village politics and wastes time in it. His wife(S.Varalakshmi) is a lazy woman who doesn’t contribute anything to the welfare of the family. The third son (Bheemaraju) is a body builder who is obsessed with diet, fitness and workouts by not bothering about his wife (Geethanjali). The poor wife dreams of having a good time with her husband and become a mother just like her other women in the family. The youngest son (ANR) is the only educated person in the family who studies in the town. He falls in love with a medico (Jayalalitha). The only daughter (Anitha)’s husband (Padmanabham) suffers from night blindness. He doesn’t do any work and passes time lazily by living in his in laws house. To make things worse, his mother (Suryakantham) always visit the house and create rifts in the family. The eldest son and his wife’s good will is mistaken as inability and all these people make use of their innocence. The younger son marries his love at this juncture and she enters the family when everybody is in a mess with unnecessary expenditures, arguments and cheatings. Rest of the film is about how she along with her husband solves the issues of the house.
Performances:
ANR is fantastic as the youngest in the family with good histrionics. Jayalalitha gets another meaty role with glamor as well as performance and she does a balanced job. Anjali Devi is brilliant as the innocent eldest daughter in law of the family. Gummadi is perfect as the idealist elder brother and Nagabhushnam does a great job as the irresponsible second brother. Bheemaraju and Geethanjali are good as a pair. Anitha and Padmanabham are peculiar in their roles and Suryakantham does her typical role of an interfering relative.
Technical Aspects:
Athreya and Pratyagatma did a great job in balancing out a wonderful script for a family entertainer of this sort. The main storyline never looks hero or heroine centric but revolves around the characters. Music by melody king S.Rajeshwara Rao paved the way for good melodies like Hello Saaru O Doragaru, Bidiyamela O Cheli, Seetha Ramudu Kodanda Ramudu (Kolatam Song), Yedukondala Vaada Venkateshwara Neevaina Ee Manushulaku Buddhi Cheppara, Ey Ey Raa, Cheyi Cheyi Kalipi became good hits.
