Vichitra Bandham story at a glance
Vichitra Bandham is another gem in the combination of hit pair ANR- Vanisri in their respective careers. This film proved their worth and talent once again and fetched great feedback. Vanisri played the role of a woman who is born in an affluent house with arrogance and later realizing her mistakes because of the troubles she faces. ANR did fantastic justice as the hero who falls for Vanisri, but tries to get her into his way by force and later realizing his mistake of doing so. Popular playback singer Ramakrishna got introduced into films with this film produced by Annapurna Studios. The basic storyline is from Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani’s famous novel Vijetha.
Story Details:
Sandhya (Vanisri) is a daughter of a Zamindar named Adinarayana Rao(SVR). She has a younger brother (Master Adi Narayana Rao). Sandhya is brought up in a pampered way by her aunt Shantamma (Anjali). Sandhya grows up in a comfortable and rich environment and turns to be quite arrogant looking at her riches and status. In one instance she slaps a wrongdoer Babji (Rajababu). Babji’s father is none other than Adinarayana Rao’s partner (Gummadi) and a big cheat. He plans to get his daughter Jyothi (Leela Rani) to his nephew Madhav (ANR) and snatch the latter’s property. Madhav questions Sandhya for slapping Babji and makes her tell a public apology in college. Sandhya feels highly humiliated with this incident and plans to trap Madhav. She acts as if she loves Madhav and insults him in front of his father. She openly challenges that she will take revenge on Madhav. A furious Madhav tries to stop Sandhya in one situation and tries to confess his love. But when Sandhya refuses his love, he rapes her. As a result Sandhya gets pregnant and lot of twists happen in the story. Adinarayana Rao loses his property because of his partner and dies out of heart failure. Sandhya and her brother become orphans and Shantamma takes care of them. Sandhya gives birth to a baby boy and Madhav realizes his mistake. He tries to get close to Sandhya as a changed man and goes through lot of tests and tensions in order to win her love. The film ends on a happy note with the union of two disturbed lives of Sandhya- Madhav.
Performances:
ANR does a great job as the hero who gets carried away by ego, falls for the heroine, and realizes his mistake later. His chemistry with Vanisri works wonders on screen. He does a great job as a realized person and trying to win over the herione’s love. Vanisri gets a tailor made role of a woman who is arrogant in the beginning and then realize her fault. SVR does a neat job as the gullible Zamindar Adinarayana Rao. Gummadi is good as the evil partner of Zamindar. Ramaprabha, Rajababu and Allu Ramalingaiah offer good comedy relief in a serious subject of this sort.
Technical Aspects:
The film is adapted well from Yaddanapudi Sulochanarani’s novel Vijetha by Adurthi Subbarao and Dukkapati Madhusudana Rao. Dialogues by Acharya Athreya are heartfelt and emotional to the core. Songs like Vayase Oka Poola Thota(Suseela- Ramakrishna’s first duet song), Chikkavu Chethi lo Chilakamma (Singer Ramakrishna’s first song), Cheekati Velugula Rangeli (Happy/Sad versions), Andamaina Jeevithamu Addala Soudhamu became good hits. Adurthi Subbarao does a perfect job in making a film high on sentiment and drama.
