Surya IPS is one powerful Cop story which was made in Telugu Cinema. Whether it is the brilliant on screen pairing of Venkatesh and Vijayashanthi, powerful melodrama, or the music- Surya IPS has everything in it! Story Details:
Surya (Venkatesh) is a happy go lucky youngster who takes life on a lighter vein and teases women along with his friends. He is pushed into IPS training by his grandfather (Satyanarayana) and it is when he meets Sireesha (Vijayashanthi) and flashback comes around. Surya teases Sireesha a lot during their college years. When they meet again in IPS training, Sireesha traps Surya into wrong doings and Surya gets suspended for some days. It is when Surya comes to know about his past by his instructor (Sharath Kumar) who tells why his grandfather insisted on him becoming a police officer. Surya’s mother dies in tragic sequence where her husband plans the crime. Surya realizes his fault and prepares well for the IPS training and revenge on his own father (Charan Raj). Rest of the film is about how differently Surya plans the revenge and Sireesha’s help in it.
Performances:
Venkatesh is good as the casual youngster and a realized individual later in the film. He looks brilliant in song sequences and his pairing with Vijayashanthi works wonders. Vijayashanthi is great as the female lead and a Police Role was like a cake walk for the actress. Sharath Kumar is good as the police training officer and bags some pivotal scenes. Satyanarayana is adequate as the concerned grandfather of the hero.Charan Raj is excellent in the negative role of Hero’s father. The kid actor Tarun also is seen in the film in an interesting role.
Technical Aspects:
Dialogues by Paruchuri Brothers are like a lifeline for the film especially in the turning point sequences. Cinematography by P.S.Prakash shines in songs and the stunts. Music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja helps the film stand out specially and songs like Namo Nama Yavvanama became all time hit. Direction by Kodandarami Reddy is perfect without any dull moment- making it a mass entertainer with meaning. The film is high on production values with Subbirama Reddy in it.
