Bangaru Bullodu earned Balakrishna the image of out and out mass entertaining hero during the 90s era. Village backdrop, good performances, crisp storyline made it a commercial hit in the box office.
Story Details:
(Balakrishna) is a fearless youth in the village who questions the wrong doings of his Uncle (Rao Gopala Rao). Rani (Ramya Krishna) is an adorable maradalu to the hero who dreams of marrying him right from childhood. Meanwhile another maradalu (Raveena Tandon), a city bred girl arrives in the village who challenges with Rani that she will make the hero fall for him. The city bred maradalu has a sad flashback which is connected to hero’s father in law and the rest of the film is about how the hero rescues her and solves the mystery.
Performances:
Balakrishna is good as the villager with vigor and fun element. His body language suited well for the stunts, emotional sequences and songs. Ramya Krishna is excellent as the clever maradalu of the hero with brilliant histrionics and a glamorous presence. Bollywood heroine Raveena Tandon acted for the first time in Telugu and she does well. Rao Gopala Rao is at his best as the negative character. Annapurna as hero’s mother gives a memorable performance. Brahmanandam and Babu Mohan offer comedy relief. Srividya played an important role as Raveena Tandon’s guardian in the film.
Technical Aspects:
Raj-Koti’s music is the main asset for the film. The gross commercial numbers made a huge appeal to the masses as well as Balakrishna fans. Swathi Lo Muthyam Antha, Vayasu Aagaadhu, Tadiginathom songs became good chartbusters. Ravi Raja Pinisetty’s direction is commercially viable yet intense.
