Siddhu – Siddharth Nayak (Pawan Kalyan) is a fun loving guy who wants to study in Canada. When he was about to fly there, Siddhu meets with an accident and had to join in a local college. There is Madhu – Madhumathi (Bhumika) in the college. They share a lot of common things and finally fall for each other. And rest of the story is about the egos that creep in between them and how they overcome all those towards the end.

There was absolutely no buzz regarding the movie before the audio release. The album was a super duper hit that shot hype over the movie. The movie struck chord with the youth and was a huge blockbuster then.

Kushi was the first combination of Pawan Kalyan and director S.J. Surya. Later the duo paired up for a movie titled Puli.
Bhumika and Pawan Kalyan paired up for the first time in this movie. It was with this movie Bhumika shot to fame.

The scene in the movie in which Siddhu stares at Madhumathi's navel and hip went to become a huge rage then.
A classic song called "Aaduvari Maatalaku…" penned by Pingali from the 1955 classic Missama starring NTR was remixed by Manisharma in this movie. The remix version is also a chartbuster.
Pawan Kalyan's Kushi was a remade as Kushi in Tamil starring Vijay. Tamil version was also directed by S.J. Surya.
S.J. Surya dated Bhumika during the movie but their relation did not last long.
