Krishnadas (Pritviraj) and Tarzan (Prabhu Deva) are good friends. A Mining company's representative (Nithya Menen) approaches them and offers to buy Krishnadas's ancestral property in Kerala. Krishnadas comes to know about this property which has a huge value.
In a flashback… Long time ago in Chirakkal, a warrior (Arya) fights against the Vasco da Gama and gets killed. So his son Kelu Naynar (Prithviraj) decides to kill Vasco da Gama with a special weapon called Urumi which is made with Gold. His friend Vavvali (Prabhu Deva) also joins in his mission and later princess of Arakkal (Genelia) too joins hands with Kelu and Vavvali to kill Vasco da Gama.

Though the movie released with positive talk and reviews, it failed to materialize at box office. The movie got positive reviews and talk was good on the whole ended as an average.

Sidelights
The song "Aaro Nee Aaro" in the film is alleged to be plagiarised from Loreena McKennitt's "Caravanserai" of the album An Ancient Muse. Loreena McKennit filed a plagiarism suit against composer Deepak Dev and the makers of Urumi in Delhi High Court. On 21 September 2011.
The shooting lasted a period of seven months in the states of Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Many scenes in the film were re-shot to avoid lip-sync problems.
