Okka Magadu story at a glance

Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy a.k.a. Satyam (Nandamuri Balakrishna) is a beloved person for several villagers for his benevolent and righteous character. His grandmother is Baby (Simran Bagga) whose husband dedicated his life to gain independence, taken later as a prisoner of war and missing henceforth. Later few mysterious murders take place in which several corrupt officials are killed. On digging further, a new character, ‘Okka Magadu’ (Nandamuri Balakrishna) is revealed. Rest of the story is the past of Okka Magadu and the mission he undertakes.

    Telugu cinema had witnessed never before hype for this movie as the director claims himself a hardcore Nandamuri fan. The first look stills and trailers only increased the hype but the movie failed miserably and ended as the biggest disaster in Balakrishna’s career.

    • Okka Magadu is the first combination of Balakrishna and YVS Chowdary.
    • Anushka and Priyanka Kothari paired up with Balayya for the first time in this movie.
    • Simran who acted beside Balayya in several blockbuster movies acted as his grandmother in the movie.

    • Okka Magadu was shot at several important places in Rayalaseema like Mahanandi in Kurnool, Ahobilam, Ontimitta in Kadapa district, at Pushpagiri, Pulivendula, Thadipatri and at Lepakshi near Hindupur.
    • Senior most publicity artist Eeswar had made a special sketch on the special get-up of Bala Krishna in the move but it was not appreciated by the audience.
    • The entire movie is a rip off of Kamal Hassan’s Bharateeyudu.
