Santosh (Siddharth) is a playful young NRI from London, who returns to India to attend his cousin Lalita's (Veda) wedding. There, he meets Lalita's friends, Siri (Trisha Krishnan) who comes to attend the marriage. Both finally fall in love. But Santosh mom doesn’t like this. So she insults Siri infornt of all in the absence of Santosh. Sivarama Krishna (Srihari) Siri’s brother takes her to their village. Santosh visits Sivarama Krishna’s village and proposes him for marriage with his Siri. Then Sivarama Krishna asks Santosh to work as a labor in his farm. He also gives 1 acre of land and asks him to harvest more produce than him. The rest of the story is all about how Santosh wins the bet as well as the heart of Sivarama Krishna.

The movie garnered good review and very good mouth talk. The movie was a huge hit then. It collected around 17 crores at box office. The movie complete 50 days in 79 centers and 100 days in 35 centers.

This film was started on May 14th 2004 in MS Raju’s office. This is sentiment day for him as his films Okkadu, Varsham started on the same day.
MS Raju planned to release the movie on the Dasara of 2004 year but it got delayed and the movie was released for Sankranthi the following year.
Initially 9 songs were composed for this film but later 3 songs got trimmed.
This movie has been remade in Tamil with the title Something Something ... Unnakum Ennakum. The lead casts are Jayam Ravi and Trisha Krishnan (same as Telugu version) in Tamil.
It was remade into HINDI as Ramaiya Vastavaiya 2013, directed by Prabhu deva.
