Just before Nijam, Teja had delivered three super hits in the form of Nuvvu Nenu, Jayam and Chitram that too with new comers. When Nijam was announced, the movie received too much of hype. Adding to it, the music album of the movie was a chartbuster then. But the movie could not sustain the hype and fell flat at the box office.
Nijam was then in the Top 5 movies in consideration for ‘India’s official entry to Oscars’ in the foreign film category. The movie got a Pan-India appeal and was dubbed in Hindi as Meri Adalat.
The name of director Teja appears in the interval bang of the movie, which was his trademark style.
The movie’s tagline – It’s a lie (exactly opposite to title Nijam) became a point of discussion then.
Murali Mohan played the role of CBI officer role in the movie initially. After shooting for 4 days, Teja did not like his histrionics and replaced him with Prakash Raj. Both of them later had a legal tussle at MAA association regarding the same.
