Trade
This was the combination of B.Gopal, who directed several mass masala entertainers like Samara Simha Reddy, Narasimha Naidu and Indra and NTR, who proved himself as a mass actor by then with Simhadri. Therefore, the movie released amidst huge expectations but failed miserably.
Highlights
This is the second combination of NTR and B.Gopal. Earlier they teamed up for Allari Ramudu.
Sameera Reddy had paired up with NTR for the first time in this movie. Later they had appeared together in Ashok as well.
Aarthi Agarwal, who was a hotcake then, danced for an item number in the movie.
Sidelights
Cashing the hype about the movie, Producer Chengala Venkat Rao sold the movie at unusual prices directly to the theater owners (exhibitor) without distributors. On advance basis, the producer had to repay the losses if any to the exhibitor. He intelligently got the agreements done on the name of his cousin who disappeared before the movie release. When Chengala has to pay the losses, he staged a suicide drama in Hussain Sagar to avert. He made a statement that he was cheated by his brother and is in serious debts and under life threat and humiliations. With one stroke none could attack him for their debts and they could not go to court as the agreement was on some oblivious person who was said to be his nephew. So finally his plan worked and he earned crores with a disaster movie.
During the movie, there were serious rumours in the industry that NTR was dating Sameera Reddy.
